The Club was founded in 1975 by some local cat breeders including
Ann Millman and Sylvia Gibbons.
In 1984 the Club held its first Exemption Show
in Bridgnorth before moving to Oakengates for its Sanction Shows in 1986.
The first Championship Show saw it move to Bingley Hall, Stafford where it remained until 2010. In the second year at Bingley Hall the date became the first Saturday in February. After Bingley Hall it has found its new home at Fenton Manor Leisure Centre, Stoke on Trent where it remains today. In 2012 the Club celebrated its 25th Championship Show which unfortunately had to close early due to snow. In 2014 Gwynedd Cat Club had to cancel their Show, and so they hastily joined us in 2015. We ran a joint show with them until 2020. In 2017, our 30th Championship Show, due to an issue with Fenton Manor, we moved, for one year only, to Aldersley Leisure Centre in Wolverhampton.
In September 2018 Sylvia lost her battle with cancer having remained on the Committee and as Vice President up to her death. The same month we heard of the death of Yvonne Clubbe who had been our Secretary from the late 70's to 1988.
Our 2019 Show was significantly different as our first without Sylvia. In 2020 we just managed to hold our Show as normal before Covid19 lockdowns commenced but 2021 had to be cancelled because of the ongoing pandemic. We managed to hold a small Show in 2022 as we recovered from the pandemic but without Gwynedd Cat Club after the illness and subsequent death of their Show Manager, Marie Rose. 2023 saw the Club return to "normality," but still holding a solo Show. 2024 saw the show move to another new venue, Bloxwich Active Living Centre and continued the rise in entries since Covid.
